The PORTA-AC Central High School football team picked up an important win last week to move to 2-3 on the season, blowing out rival Pleasant Plains 42 to 8. Triopia-Meredosia-Chambersburg-Virginia lost to a very good Brown County team by an identical score of 42 to 8 and are also 2-3 on the season.

The Triopia-Meredosia-Chambersburg-Virginia High School volleyball team won two of three games last week to improve to 14-6 on the year. The junior varsity won all three contests in three sets and are 11-3-2 on the season.

The Beardstown High School volleyball team picked up their first win of the season last Thursday, topping West Central in three sets to move to 1-13 on the year.
Work on the bridge from Beardstown to Schuyler County continues and repairs are on schedule, according to Paul Wappel, Public Information Officer of Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT).

The Virginia-Meredosia-Chambersburg-Triopia High School golf team wrapped up their regular season last week with some very good golf.

Sometime in 2001, William “Billy” Reynolds, Virginia, started playing trivia. He was asked by some friends if he would be interested in playing a few games for some fundraising. Billy said he didn’t know how good he would be at it, but why not?

The Maryflor Mexican Restaurant opened Tuesday, September 2nd offering authentic Mexican cuisine to the people of Virginia on the corner of E. Beardstown and Main St.
