Lady Tiger Softball is Still Rolling

The beat goes on for the Beardstown Junior High School softball team as three more wins last week pushed their season record to 9-0. After a 17 to 5 dismantling of Mendon Unity last Tuesday, the Lady Tigers found out a little more about themselves in identical 3 to 2 wins over Rushville-Industry and Midwest Central on Wednesday and Saturday.

Junior High Baseball Report

The AC Central and Virginia-Triopia junior high baseball teams opened play last week, starting the season by facing off against each other and treating a large crowd to a real barn burner with the Knights literally stealing a victory from the Redbirds.

AC Central Junior High Softball Report

The AC Central junior high softball team won once last week, trouncing South County 19 to 2 while losing to Meredosia-Triopia-Virginia 12 to 2 and to Griggsville-Perry 15 to 10. The Lady Knights are now 2-4 on the season after an opening week in which they lost to Brown County 13 to 1 and to Auburn 6 to 5 while beating Pikeland 6 to 5.

We knew from last week’s issue of this newspaper there would probably be someone upset with either the article or the editorial or both, and we were right.

Three Wins for Lady Indian Softball

The Meredosia-Chambersburg-Triopia-Virginia Junior High softball team won its first three games last week before losing on Saturday bringing their season record to 4-2-1. The Lady Indians beat Camp Point 10 to 0, Griggsville-Perry 4 to 1 and AC Central 12 to 2 before falling 15 to 2 to Athens.

'Neighbor' event huge success

It was a magnificent day, full of fun and entertainment for everyone at the event, “I Am Your Neighbor” held Saturday, August 9 at the Roundhouse, 8th and Bay Streets in Beardstown. The event was sponsored by First United Methodist Church, Beardstown.
