Overall Economic Development Commission hears about Kencor

At their monthly meeting on Feb. 26, the Overall Economic Development Commission received several updates regarding the possibility of Kencor Ethnic Foods, Inc. locating a fish processing plant in Beardstown.
According to Mayor Patterson, all signs are pointing to Kencor being able to move into the Illinois Glove Factory Building in the near future. “It’s a win-win,” said Patterson, with jobs and industry coming to Beardstown, local fishermen saving hours of driving to deliver their catch, and Kencor saving money by locating closer to the source of their product.
Economic Development Director Dustin Fritsche is assisting Greg Garrett and Sean Park of the Western Illinois University Small Business Development Center in lining up some of the funding required to bring the building up to speed.
