Thomas L. “Tom” Brown December 18, 1944 - May 21, 2015

    Thomas L. “Tom” Brown, 70, of Beardstown, died Thursday, May 21, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
    He was born December 18, 1944 in Beardstown, the son of James L. and Mildred Lee Brown. He married Janice Jones on December 15, 1986 in Las Vegas, Nev. and she survives.
    He is also survived by two daughters: Barbara (Michael) Bowman and Cheryl “Cheri” (Joe) Stambaugh, all of Beardstown; one son, Eric E. Jones of Springfield; three grandchildren: Ashley Bowman of Arenzville, Brandon Bowman and Samantha “Sam” Stambaugh, both of Beardstown; and one great-granddaughter, Alyxandria Bowman Dusenbery. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Jon Brown; sister-in-law, Judith Lindley Brown and uncle, D. Earl Brown.
    Tom was a 1963 graduate of Beardstown High School. He worked as a machinist for Burlington Northern Railroad for several years and was a life-time farmer in Cass County. He was a member of RLDS Church, Elks Lodge #1007, Machinist Union Lodge #2063 in Galesburg, Beardstown Game Club, Ducks Unlimited and National Wild Turkey Federation. Tom enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming and playing cards. He had an interest in transportation, especially trains and planes. His pride and joy was his family and the time he spent with all of them.
    A funeral service was held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 26 at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown with burial at Beardstown City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Elks Children’s Care Corporation or Salvation Army.
