Thelma (Cave) Briggs of Glencoe, N.M., formerly of Virginia and Philadelphia, Ill. died Friday, Oct. 30.
She was born in Philadelphia February 24, 1912, the daughter of Hannah (Black) and John Edward Cave.
She married William E. Briggs, who preceded her in death in March 1979, as well as her son, William Dean Briggs in October 2005 and one granddaughter, Diann Gross.
She is survived by her daughter Hazel Tribble of Ferris, Texas; daughter-in-law Barbara Briggs of Glencoe, N.M. with whom she lived; five grandchildren: Rev. Dr. Rick Tribble and wife Dot, Springfield, Carl Tribble and wife Rhonda of Niles, Miss., Emily James and husband Dennis of Ferris, Texas, Virginia Howard and husband Scott of Glencoe, N.M., William J. Briggs of Aurora, Colo.; six great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
Thelma enjoyed crocheting, making quilts and working crossword puzzles.
She was also preceded in death by sisters Elizabeth Phelps, Grace Revis, Francis Ruth, and Hazel Huston and three brothers, Ted, killed in Germany, 1944, Tag, 1979 and Dewey, 2000.
After cremation her ashes will be spread on the mountaintop in Glencoe, N.M., where she lived.
