Roy William Harms June 29, 1941 - March 7, 2015

    Roy William Harms, 73, of Virginia, formerly of Green Valley, passed away at his home at 10:42 p.m. on Saturday, March 7. He was born June 29, 1941 in Green Valley, to Roy William and Margaret (McGinnis) Harms Sr. He married Joann Cox on August 5, 1969 in Bowling Green, Mo. and she survives.
    He is survived by his wife, Joann, of Virginia; one son, Rich Harms of Virginia; three stepsons: Mike Walters of Virginia, David Walters of Shawnee, Kan., and Ed Walters of Virginia; five grandchildren: Tonya Ruiz, Amy Flynn, Zack Harms, Elizabeth Harms and William Keith Harms as well as many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
    Also surviving are two sisters: Lucille (Larry) Pruett of Lynnville,  and Margaret (Bob) Harbaugh of Marquette Heights, and several nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather, Calvin, who raised him, son Roy Harms Jr. and one brother, John Stanberry.
    He worked for Mobil Chemical for 33 years, retiring as a machine operator.
    Cremation rites have been accorded and in accordance with his wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral services. Roy’s family asks that memorial contributions be made to Cass-Schuyler Hospice or to the donor’s choice.
