Ralph Wankel November 22, 1926 - March 13, 2015

    Ralph Wankel, 88, of Beardstown, died Friday, March 13, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.
    He was born November 22, 1926 in rural Murrayville, the son of Harry and Sara Louise Fox Wankel. He married Bertha Arlene Hendricker on March 18, 1950 in Beardstown and she survives.
    He is also survived by four sons: Neal Wankel of Beardstown, Mark (Debra) Wankel of Mt. Carmel, David (Carlette) Wankel of Beardstown and Larry (Shelley) Wankel of New Baden; ten grandchildren: Jordan (Rachel) Wankel, Milady (Chad) Griffin, Skyler, Heidy, Eden, Bradley, Raylynn, Cassie, Chloe and Shannon Wankel; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Betty Wankel of Many, Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.
    Mr. Wankel served in the U.S. Army at the end of WW II, stationed in Austria. He was a lifelong farmer primarily in Cass County before his retirement. He was a member of Bethel Church of the Nazarene and served as treasurer and trustee for Beardstown Church of the Nazarene for 37 years. He served on the Bluff Springs Farmers Elevator Board. Ralph’s life work as a farmer allowed him to give back to the church and a Lord he loved and was grateful to serve.
    A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, March 21 at Bethel Church of the Nazarene with burial at Beardstown City Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church on Saturday. Memorials are suggested to Bethel Church of the Nazarene.
