Paul D. Young, 80, of Union City, Tenn. passed away March 7 at his home. Mr. young was born on Oct. 4, 1936, the son of Paul E. and Alberta Young of Virginia.
Paul graduated from Southern Illinois University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was an officer in the U.S. Navy attaining the rank of LTJG and proudly serving aboard the USS St. Paul. After his honorable discharge, Paul graduated from The American Institute of Foreign Trade in Phoenix, Ariz. He began his professional career with Goodyear International Tire and Rubber Co. in 1964, working in Akron, Ohio, New Delhi, India, and Valencia, Venezuela before coming to Union City, Tenn. where he retired after 34 years.
Paul enjoyed woodworking, and was an avid painter and active member of the PAPA gallery in Paducah, Ky.
Paul is survived by his wife of 51 years, Patricia (McAvoy) Young; two daughters and son-in-laws, Michelle and William Landon of Camarillo, Calif. and Leslie and Mark Lehner of Abbeville, Miss.; a brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Dorothy Young of Collinsville; one niece; and two nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, one nephew, and one sister-in-law.
A family graveside service will be held in Virginia. The family requests that any memorials be made to the charity of your choosing.
