Marsha K. Brooks, 76, of Beardstown passed away Thursday, Sept. 17, 2020, at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.
She was born Nov. 3, 1943, in Beardstown, the daughter of Harold Dwight and Mary Elizabeth Wessel Spoon. She married Melvin “Merle” Brooks on June 26, 1971, in Beardstown and he survives.
She is also survived by three sons, Dennis M. (Vickie) Reiley, Jr. of Springfield, Matthew M. (Marcy) Brooks of Astoria and Miles M. (Teresa) Brooks of Beardstown; nine grandchildren, Kyle, Shannon, Becca, James, Madison, McKade, Layne, Logan and Trey; two great-grandsons, Jaxson and Steven; two brothers, David (Pam) Spoon of Beardstown and Kevin (Debbie) Spoon of Rushville; and one sister, Glenna (Jack) Lyons of Petersburg. She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Miles David Brooks; two sisters, Sandra Jean Mathis and Pamela Sue Smith; and one brother, Larry Spoon.
Marsha was a homemaker and an excellent cook. She loved to sing and enjoyed playing bingo.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, at Sager Funeral Home with burial at Beardstown City Cemetery. Family will meet friends from 5–7 p.m. Monday at Sager Funeral Home. Social distancing guidelines will be observed and there will be a limit of 50 visitors at any one time in the funeral home.
