Margaret K. Hageman, February 11, 1921-August 15, 2014

    Margaret K. Hageman, 93, of Beardstown, died Friday, August 15, at Heritage Health in Beardstown.
    She was born February 11, 1921 in Beardstown, the daughter of Theodore and Susannah Stainsby Smith. She married Robert A. Hageman and he preceded her in death on May 19, 1989.
    She is survived by one son, John (Terry) Hageman of Quincy; six grandchildren: Jennifer (John) Freidinger of Arenzville, Phillip Hageman of Fort Worth, Texas, Melissa Turner, Jennifer Black and Travis Black, all of Quincy and Andrea Black of Payson; twelve great-grandchildren; two brothers, Francis “Tac” Smith of Joliet and J. Logan Smith of Beardstown; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son, Robert T. Hageman; one sister, Mary Newman; and three brothers, John, Amos and Theodore Smith.
    Margaret was a 1939 graduate of Beardstown High School and member of First United Methodist Church in Beardstown. She worked as a receiving clerk for Sears & Roebuck in Beardstown for over 20 years. She enjoyed feeding birds, reading and spending time with all her grandchildren.
    A graveside service was held at 1 p.m., Sunday, August 17, at Beardstown City Cemetery.
    Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Heritage Health–Activity Fund or Salvation Army.

    Fred Bergman of Chandlerville will celebrate his 90th birthday. An open house, hosted by his family, will be held Sunday, Sept. 24 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Chandlerville Legion Hall.
