Leland F. Seaman, 88, of Beardstown, died Monday, March 28, at Heritage Health in Beardstown.
He was born June 24, 1927 in Cass County, the son of Roy F. and Irene Jokisch Seaman. He married Claribel L. Miller on Oct. 26, 1957.
He is survived by his wife Claribel Seaman of Beardstown; his son Craig Seaman of Beardstown; two brothers, Warren Seaman and Donald (wife Carolyn) Seaman, both of Beardstown; one sister, Mary Clarke of Arenzville; one nephew, Mike (wife Laura) Seaman; three nieces, Rebecca Seaman, Karla Lindley (husband Harvey) Spears, and Dawn Marie Seaman; and six great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Leland attended Brick Grade School and graduated from Beardstown High School in the class of 1946. He worked for Bluff Springs Township and Modern Chevrolet Garage in Beardstown. He began working for the Cass County Highway Department in 1955, and retired as a foreman in 1989. Leland was a member, Treasurer for 20 years, and faithfully served, at Bluff Springs Methodist Church. He also served on the Cass County Planning Commission. Leland enjoyed working in his yard and in the garden, and also could be found helping his brothers on their family farm.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 2, at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown. A private family burial will be held at a later date. The family will meet with friends one hour prior to the services at the memorial home on Saturday.
Memorials have been suggested to Bluff Springs Methodist Church.
