John Edward Rayborn March 6, 1935 - February 26, 2015

    John Edward Rayborn, 79, of Beardstown, died Thursday, Feb. 26, at his residence.
    He was born March 6, 1935 in Jacksonville, the son of John T. and Lucile Frances Baker Rayborn. He married Alice Marie Goodson on April 8, 1962 at the Concord United Methodist Church and she preceded him in death on Sept. 7, 2011.
    He is survived by a daughter, Mary (husband, Eric) Kearns of Beardstown; twin sons, Joseph Allen (fiancé, Donna Murdock of Pekin) Rayborn of Mt. Sterling and Glen Edward Rayborn of Beardstown; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, including his twin, Charles Rayborn of Philadelphia and Joseph (wife, Marlene) Rayborn of Ridge Manor, Fla.; two sisters, Mary Rayborn of Concord and Sara Deason of San Antonio, Texas; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Wyatt Dalton Rayborn; and one brother, David William Rayborn.
    John attended school in Concord and Chapin and was a member of the Concord United Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1960, stationed in Germany. He was employed with Burlington-Northern Railroad as a carpenter on the Bridge Gang for 38 years until his retirement in 1996. John enjoyed fishing, vegetable gardening, playing Bingo, going out to eat and visiting with friends and family. He loved his dog and taking time to feed the squirrels and birds in his yard.
    Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, March 1, at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown with burial at Concord Cemetery.
