James “Jimmy” Pierson, 59, Virginia, died Friday, December 17, 2021 at his home.

He was born February 20, 1962 in Rushville, the son of Arthur and Linda Hamm Pierson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Roscoe Pierson, and a nephew, Raymond “RC” Gossage.

Jimmy attended Browning Grade Schools and Rushville High School. He was a man of many talents. His friends knew him by his nickname Wid, He began working with his father as a commercial fisherman and logger at a young age. He later started a career in construction working with Laborer’s Union #477. After a boating accident, he helped farmers around the Cass County area and found lots of odd and end jobs that allowed him to help others. Wid would sometimes just get in his truck and drive south to vacation, purchase shrimp or to show up and help with disaster relief. He was a likeable guy and a friend to most but wasn’t afraid to speak his mind. He had an ornery side that always ended with a joke. Wid’s fried fish could stand up to the best. His greatest joy was having a cold one with friends and family.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown with Wyatt Sager officiating. Burial was in the Browning Cemetery. Following the burial, in honor of Jimmy, the family continued celebrating his life “Wid style”at Caraway Bar in Virginia.
