Jacob “Jake” Eugene Knous, 22, of Bluffs, died Saturday, April 15, in rural Morgan County.
He was born Aug. 5, 1994 in Jacksonville, the son of John Paul Bartels and Saundra Johnson, and was raised in the home of Larry and Brenda Knous.
He is survived by his parents, John (Sonia) Bartels of Riverton, Saundra Johnson of Little Rock, Ariz., and Larry Knous of Bluffs; two brothers, Jon Michael Knous of Bluffs and Larry E. Knous, Jr. of Rushville; one sister, Jocelyn Bartels of Virginia; a niece, KayLee Elizabeth Eilers of Beardstown; and several more nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Brenda Knous.
Mr. Knous was a 2012 graduate of Bluffs High School and enjoyed traveling, playing basketball, golf, and video games. He was an avid fan of Fighting Illini Athletics, Tennessee Titans Football, and St. Louis Cardinals Baseball. Jacob was the first to help out when someone was in need and loved to hang out with his close group of friends. He was a caring brother, but was particularly fond of giving his brothers a hard time.
A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown with burial at Bethel Cemetery in rural Chandlerville. A luncheon will immediately follow the committal service at Chandlerville American Legion Post 694. Family will meet with friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
