Evalyn Welbourne, 106, formerly of Pittsfield, passed away April 10 at the Baptist Health Care Center in Lenoir City, Tenn. She was born in Peoria on Jan. 13, 1910, a daughter of Harry and Carrie Schafer. She married Dallas Welbourne of Barry at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, Iowa; he preceded her in death in 1995.
Because of the nature of Dallas’s employment with CIPS, they lived in Auburn, Virden, Pittsfield, Jerseyville, Carthage, Macomb, North Brook and Beardstown, where he was Division Manager and Vice President. After retiring they moved back to Pittsfield where Evalyn was very active in P.E.O. and the Pittsfield United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two children, Don (Mary) Welbourne of Pittsfield and Judith (Alex) Pabich of Loudon, Tenn.; eight grandchildren, Mike (Gina) Welbourne, Steve (Michelle) Welbourne, Bill (Diana) Welbourne, Pat (Dorthy) Welbourne and Andy (Lisa) Welbourne, Kathy (Tom) Wessburg, Randy (Andrea) Pabich and John (Linda) Pabich; in addition to seventeen great-grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Francis McCluggage of Decatur.
Evalyn was preceded in death by her husband, Dallas, a brother, Harold, and a sister, Jackie Everhart.
A memorial service for Evalyn will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 21, at the Pittsfield United Methodist Church with Rev. Tom Wilbur officiating. Visitation with her family will be held prior to the service from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at the church.
