Dorothy Marr Richard, 81, of Chandlerville, passed away Aug. 7, at 9:42 p.m. at Jacksonville Skilled Nursing & Rehab. She was born May 16, 1935 in Virginia, to W. Dwight and Inez (Force) Marr. She married Ernest “Cork” Richard on Feb. 25, 1955 in Chandlerville. He preceded her in death on Aug. 27, 1996.
Mrs. Richard is survived by three daughters, Sherry (Mike) Collins, Teri Richard, Penny Meyer, and one son, Tim (Laura) Richard, all of Chandlerville; five grandchildren, Megan (Travis) Cave of Ashland, Cole Meyer of Roanoke, Va., Chelsey Meyer of Chandlerville, Lakyn Richard of Springfield, and Conor Richard of Chandlerville; and three great-grandchildren, Colby and Caden Cave and Israel Meyer. Also surviving are two sisters, Gloria (Bob) Potts of Chandlerville and Barb (Dan) Cook of Jacksonville; one brother, Donnie (Jackie) Marr of Chandlerville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard (Dallas) Marr and Jerry Marr, and one sister, Marjorie Towery.
Mrs. Richard and her husband owned and operated Comets Canteen in Chandlerville for many years. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at Bethel Cemetery, near Chandlerville, on Thursday, Aug. 11, at 11 a.m. Brian Eilers will officiate.
