David A. Logsdon

September 17, 1949 - May 29, 2018

David A. Logsdon, 68, of Rushville and formerly of Beardstown, died Tuesday, May 29, at his home.

He was born Sept. 17, 1949, in Beardstown, the son of Ray and Elva Lee Jones Logsdon.

He is survived by his children, Terri (Mike) Bacon of Bluff Springs, Thad Logsdon of Marissa and Tiffany Logsdon of Austin, TX; nine grandchildren, Dylan and Dalton Logsdon, Shane Swan, Shania, Jimmie, Chris and Jamie Bacon; six great-grand- children; two sisters, Mary (Byron, deceased) Hiles of Frankfort, IN and Reah Logsdon of Beardstown; one brother, Mike (fiancé, Karen Cruz) Logsdon of Springfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a great-grandchild; two sisters, Betty Logsdon and Patricia (John, deceased) Davidsmeier; and four brothers, Frank (Mary, deceased) Logsdon, John (surviving wife, Judy of Beardstown) Logsdon, Tom Logsdon and Herschel (Fannie, deceased) Logsdon.

Mr. Logsdon was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Vietnam where he was awarded the Bronze Star. He was a member of Beardstown Elks Lodge #1007, Masonic Lodge and Ansar Shrine in Springfield. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator with IUOE Local 965 and Logsdon Sand and Gravel in Beardstown. He most recently worked as a licensed river boat pilot. David was an avid hunter and enjoyed taking trips all over the country to hunt elk, mule deer, alligator and other game.

Cremation has been accorded. No formal services will be held. Memorials are suggested to the Wounded Warrior Project, c/o Sager Funeral Home, 202 East 8th Street, Beardstown, IL 62618.
