Clyde D. Gibbles
Clyde D Gibble, 91, of Playa del Rey, California, died on Friday morning September 27, at Silverado Beach Cities Memory Care Community in Redondo Beach, California.
He was born on May 30, 1928, in Beardstown, the son of Samuel Bowman and Blanche S. (Dietsch) Gibble. Beardstown gained a valuable local citizen when Clyde graduated from its high school. As a high school student, Clyde participated in football, basketball, baseball and track. After high school he remained in the area and worked as a Highway Lineman in Cass County before operating Gibble’s Standard Service Station, located at 400 State Street in Beardstown in the late 1940s.
Clyde enlisted in the United States Navy during the Korean War from 1954 to 1958. In 1959 Clyde and his wife, Margaret Jeanne “Peggy” (Laesecke) moved to California where he eventually became the West Coast Plant Manager for Fearn Foods International. Upon retirement, Clyde spent over 20 years as a volunteer driver for The Shriners Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles, California.
Survivors include his son, Craig C. Gibble of Playa del Rey; his sister-in-law, Sue (Laesecke) Anastasi of Reno, Nevada. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Raymond L. Gibble in 2017; his daughter, Cynthia Sue Gibble in 1963; and his wife, Peggy in 1977.
