Carl E. Vancil September 30, 1942 - April 6, 2015

    Carl E. Vancil, 72, of Rushville, passed away at 10:19 p.m., Monday, April 6, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
    He was born on September 30, 1942, in Rushville, the son of the late Wayne and Gladys (Goodwin) Vancil. He married Pauletta Hunter on July 8, 1962, at the First United Methodist Church in Rushville. She survives.
    Also surviving are three daughters: Carlette Wankel and husband, David of Beardstown, Deena Blaine and husband, Bill of Hannibal, Mo., and Susan Krohe and husband, Dale of Rushville; nine grandchildren: Bradley Wankel, Raylynn Wankel, Cassie Wankel, Christian Blaine, Emma Blaine, Micah Blaine, Levi Blaine, Dylan Krohe and Gracelyn Krohe; one brother, John Vancil and wife, Jan of Rushville; his mother-in-law, Virginia Stocker of Rushville; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
    A 1960 graduate of Rushville High School, he attended Greenville College. Carl was a lifelong farmer in Woodstock Township, Schuyler County. He was also a rural letter carrier for the US Postal Service for 21 years, retiring in 2007. He was a member of the Rushville Free Methodist Church, where he served on the board and taught Sunday School. He was a leader for the Woodstock Winners 4-H Club. He enjoyed woodworking, photography and was a Green Bay Packers fan. His greatest joy was attending and supporting his grandchildren in their activities.
    Services will be at 10 a.m., Friday, April 10, at the Rushville Free Methodist Church with the Rev. Denny Mallory and Pastor Greg Fish officiating. Interment will follow in the Palm Cemetery, west of Rushville. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, April 9, at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville.
