Norman Lee Carroll, 83, died peacefully into the arms of his Savior on January 12, 2023, surrounded by loved ones at his residence in Gainesville, GA.

He was born February 2, 1939, in Allerton, IL, the son of Cecil Carrol and Aubrey (Richie) Carroll.

He graduated from Beardstown High School, Class of 1957. Following graduation, he attended and graduated from Olivet Nazarene University, Bourbonnais. He worked for the offices of AT&T and Western Electric for 40 years.

He married Joan Ogburn in 1964 and they were blessed with twin boys, Tim and Terry. Norm and Joan were married for 53 years. Later in life, he reunited with his high school sweetheart, Mary Phipps, and they married and have been cherishing each other for the last four years.

Norm was a lifelong member of the Church of the Nazarene. He lived his faith out daily. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was gracious, generous, and loved well. Norm enjoyed golf, shooting competitions, and watching most sports. He enjoyed eating breakfast and chewing the fat with his friends at Marshal’s Family restaurant. His favorite pastime (memories) was watching his boys, Tim and Terry, play football. He also loved birds and gardening. He had a kind and gentle spirit and gave himself far too little credit.

In addition to his parents, he was preceeded in death by: his wife, Joan Carrol; brother, Cecil Carroll Jr.; and grandson, Adam Lewis Carroll.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, Mary (Phipps) Carroll, are his siblings; Norma Krohe (Richard), Mary Gleckler, Sharon Carroll, Barbara Carroll; sons, Tim Carroll (Keri), Terry Carroll, and Greg Gulley (Jennifer); daughters, Joy Black (Aaron), and Jan Butze (Brian); grandchildren, Timothy Jr. (Cassi), Brian Caroll (Heather), David (Kayla), Courteney, Hunter Stuart (Corey), Jordan Dalbey (Eric), Lauren Jones (Austin), Lindsey Keckley (Tyler), JW Keckley (Sophia); 10 beautiful great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
