Cass County board wrestles with Second Amendment issue; questions housing suit

A proposed resolution to make Cass County a “sanctuary” against laws infringing on 2nd amendment rights, and the out- come of a lawsuit impacting the Cass County Housing Authority were the principal discussion topics of Monday night’s Cass County Board meeting.

Board Chairmand Dave Parish said Ron Boris, the Republican candidate for Cass County Sheriff’s seat, has been seeking signatures for a petition calling on the board to pass a sanctuary resolution indicating Cass County would not abide by laws passed by the legislature that infringed on Second Amendment rights.

“I don’t have a problem with the Second Amendment, and I don’t think anyone on this board does either,” Parish said. “But there are things in this resolution that bother me, like references to body armor and extended capacity magazines.” &nbsp;&nbsp;<ahref="http://etypeservices.com/Cass%20County%20Star%20GazetteID497/"><spanstyl... 13px; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">To view more, please log in or subscribe to the digital edition.</span></a></p>
