Remembering the class of 1936

Editor:
When we graduated in ‘36, the nation was slowly emerging from the Great Depression. Beardstown was hard hit by the depression, as we were a blue collar city and union town. The only jobs were filling stations and grocery stores, and those too disappeared. There was a large migration to Los Angeles.
We were fortunate in having 25 members still with us at our 70th reunion, and nine were able to make it, along with the caretakers. I think we have five left, but all are unable to make the reunion this year - time moves on.
