Trinkets and treasures helped spur sales

Once upon a time, just about every business gave away promotional items to keep their name in front of customers. Though generally inexpensive, these trinkets and treasures were appreciated because they also were useful.
    Among the most widely distributed giveaways was a fiber coaster to be placed under glasses, bottles, and cups. As you would expect, beer distributors made certain taverns and cocktail lounges were amply supplied. In some instances, coasters were personalized for individual taverns and lounges.
