Health Department conducts mosquito tests

    The Cass County Health Department, along with the Miller-Hunt virology lab at Western Illinois University, has been conducting mosquito surveillance since the month of May. Recently two pools of mosquitoes have tested positive for the West Nile virus.
    The mosquitoes that tested positive were collected during the week of June 25. One positive result was collected from Virginia, the other from Beardstown.
