Virginia’s big U-turn: mayor reappoints police chief

    Like a great many dramas, the Virginia police chief saga concluded with a surprise ending at Monday evening’s City Council session when Mayor Reg Brunk reappointed Ron Boris as police chief.
    On July 3, Brunk advised Boris in writing that he would not be reappointed as police chief. In part, Brunk wrote: “My visits with the citizens during the last campaign revealed many concerns, discomfort, and a lack of confidence about the current police department.”
