Santa’s Workshop: a bittersweet 2016

This was a very rewarding but heartbreaking year at Santa’s Workshop. This year we placed smiles on the face of 2,473 children Christmas morning 2016 in Cass, Morgan, and neighboring counties. That was rewarding! The disheartening factor was that most people did not care whether children and families in need had smiles instead of tears.
We started delivering toys two weeks prior to Christmas and didn’t complete our deliveries until after midnight Christmas Eve. It was worth every minute and mile we put in. This year with the number of children we delivered toys to, our toy and monetary donations were meager; therefore, Santa had to sell all his tools that he used to repair and build toys and he had to obtain two loans from the finance companies in Jacksonville so that he could buy the toys that were needed for children Christmas morning.
