Virginia City Council awards TIF grant for McCausland’s

Virginia’s lone surviving grocery store received a big boost at Monday’s City Council session with the unanimous approval of a $50,000 TIF (tax incremental financing) grant.

McCausland Food Mart management will use the grant to help cover the cost of a $95,000 project to give the building a new roof, upgrade electric and lighting, and replace a freezer and two refrigerated cases.

Recently, Virginia native Laurie Finney Beard purchased the business and immediately began making improvements to the grocery. McCausland’s has been at the Springfield and Front Streets’ location since 1961 when Pat McCausland opened his store. &nbsp;&nbsp;<ahref=""><spanstyl... 13px; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">To view more, please log in or subscribe to the digital edition.</span></a></p>
