Virginia’s police chief will not be reappointed

After nearly two months of uncertainty, Virginia Mayor Reg Brunk has announced his decision to not reappoint 20-year law enforcement veteran Ron Boris as police chief.
Despite strong support from Cass County Sheriff Bob Fair, City Council members, school officials and others, Brunk tadvised Boris in a memo: “I do not believe you are a fit for our relaxed community.”
“Virginia has better coverage now than it’s ever had,” Fair said at a May 22 Police Committee meeting. “This man (Boris) knows what he is doing.”
