Village of Chapin increases police force

    The Village of Chapin is increasing it’s Police Department. Two part-time officers were sworn in at the February meeting of the Village board held last week.
    This brings the department up to six officers who combined for 80 hours of service last month. Officers conducted 18 traffic stops that resulted in eight citations. In addition, officers made two arrests last month as well.
    In the Fire Department report: Firefighters responded to a house fire on Gravel Springs Road as part of mutual aid on Jan. 30 and were on standby on Jan. 31 as multiple departments were called out for major fires in Franklin and White Hall. The Department will attend a training in Waverly and a second in Jacksonville later in the month. Trustees approved a request to add a probationary member to the department.
