VHS competes at state Envirothon

Virginia High School competed at the annual Illinois State Envirothon held May 3-4 at the 4-H Memorial Campgounds at Allerton Park near Monticello.

Teammates Hannah Krause, Jake Parlier, Kole Tate, Ben Krause, and Kiley Tate competed at the state competition following a win at the regional contest, held by the Cass County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD), where teams from Adams and Morgan County also participated. The Virginia High School team was coached by Jennie Birdsell, Virginia High School agriculture teacher/FFA advisor.

Brenda McMillan, administrative coordinator for the Cass County SWCD, organized the regional contest and volunteered at the state contest as a representative of Illinois Land Use Council #8. Cass County SWCD sponsored Virginia’s team for the state competition, paying for their registration fees and t-shirts. &nbsp;&nbsp;<ahref="http://etypeservices.com/Cass%20County%20Star%20GazetteID497/"><spanstyl... 13px; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">To view more, please log in or subscribe to the digital edition.</span></a></p>
