Vehicle issues in Chapin

Concerned Citizens in Chapin voiced their views regarding unlicensed motorized vehicles on the Village streets during the March meeting of the board held last week. The citizenry has taken their complaints to the local neighborhood watch group, who addressed the board concerns of go-karts, scooters, and other motorized vehicles that have taken to the village roadways. The majority witnessed are illegal to be on Village Streets and are operated by juveniles who are under-age to be operating the vehicles. Another concern raised was the lack of police coverage during the times of the incidents. Trustees voted to have a local officer visit with parents of the area youth participating. Scheduling concerns will be discussed with Chief Beard as well.
In the Police report, Village Officers worked 52 hours last month; 13 traffic stops were made with one vehicle being impounded for the driver operating the vehicle on a revoked license.
