Tureman no longer brings joy to Virgina
As downtowns all across the country have experienced decline, many downtown buildings have fallen into disrepair.
Virginia residents and visitors were reminded of this unfortunate fact when a portion of the Tureman Opera House building recently collapsed. Once the home of the Joy Theater, the 133-year-old building stands at the southwest corner of Front and Springfield streets. It is owned by Gladys Rust, the mother of Virginia Alderman Steve Anderson. To view more, please log in or subscribe to the digital edition.
