Thumbs up for water meters and annexation in Virginia

Initial approval for the installation of advanced technology water meters came at Monday evening’s Virginia City Council session.
Unlike the present water meters which must be read by a city worker, the new meters will automatically transmit usage data wirelessly. This will eliminate the need for a worker to read individual meters. Installation is expected to begin this summer.
The ordinance, which received unanimous approval, will allow the city will borrow $225,000 at 3.1 percent interest from Petefish, Skiles & Co. Bank. Final approval is expected at the June 13 meeting.
