Suspect apprehended in shooting that leaves two dead in Virginia

    Two persons are dead and one injured following a shooting Sunday in Virginia.
    Cass County Deputies were dispatched to 140 S. East St. in Virginia at approximately 1:04 p.m. after receiving a report of a shooting. The two victims, who were discovered dead at the scene, were identified as Kathleen G. Wzientek, 68, of Virginia, and Brenda G. Crum, 64, of rural Virginia. A male victim was discovered with injuries.
    The suspect was identified as Robert D. Harris, 71, of Virginia who had left the scene. He was later apprehended in rural Morgan County driving his vehicle by Illinois Conservation Police.
    Conservation Police with the assistance of the Illinois State Police and Cass County Sheriff’s Office took the suspect into custody without incident. The suspect is currently lodged in the Morgan County Jail awaiting formal charges by Cass County State’s Attorney Craig Miller.
    The case is under investigation by Illinois State Police Zone 4 Investigations and is being assisted by Illinois State Police District 9, Cass County Sheriff’s Office, Illinois Conservation Police Department, Beardstown Police Department, and Virginia Police Department. No further information was available at this time.
