State police raid Beardstown residence Friday

One subject taken into custody after tactical team surrounds east-side home

Illinois State Police units surrounded a home in the 1400 block of East 5th Street and took one man into custody at about 11:30 a.m. Friday.

With a medical helicopter circling overhead, a Beardstown ambulance on standby, and what appeared to be an armor equipped vehicle on scene, armed officers in tactical gear addressed the occupants by loud speaker and ordered them to surrender.

After the residence was secured, officers reportedly took custody of one male subject an ISP spokesman said was known to be wanted on a warrant.

The state police spokesman said an investigation revealed the wanted subject was present inside the house and that state police had acted to take the man into custody.

The spokesman, however would disclose no information as to the man’s identity, age, or the nature of the warrant that led to his arrest. Police did say, however, the subject apprehended is cooperating with their on-going investigation. &nbsp;&nbsp;<ahref=""><spanstyl... 13px; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">To view more, please log in or subscribe to the digital edition.</span></a></p>
