Sheriff Bob Fair to retire at the end of 2018

When December 2018 rolls around, Cass County Sheriff Bob Fair will celebrate 37 years in law enforcement and then promptly retire.
This week, Fair, 66, made it official: he will not seek reelection in 2018.
Fair’s career began in 1981 when then Virginia Police Chief Tom Osmer hired Fair as a part-time officer. At the same time, the future sheriff also was working as a meat cutter for Cass Meats. His big break would come in 1986.
