New Virginia Moreland and Devitt Pharmacy nears completion, TIF grant being considered
With work nearing completion on the new Moreland & Devitt Pharmacy in Virginia, the city’s TIF (Tax Incremental Financing) District board soon will consider a second grant for the project.
At Monday evening’s Virginia City Council session, it was announced a TIF grant will be considered to replace about 100 feet sidewalk in front of the pharmacy’s new location on the south side of the Virginia Square. In addition, a portion of the sidewalk will be sloped at the center of the block so as to make it ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliant. The amount of the grant request was not known.
In March, the City Council approved a $25,000 TIF grant to assist Moreland & Devitt in remodeling the Rexroat Building that will serve as its new expanded location. The pharmacy is now located at 132 E. Beardstown St.
