Middle School ‘penny war’ raises more than $2,000 for cancer patient

The Beardstown Middle/High School held a Penny Wars fundraiser to raise money for the parent of a student who was diagnosed with cancer. The fundraiser was organized by the Middle School Student Council.

Students were given 5 minutes each day to put change and dollar bills in other classes’ buckets. Pennies counted as positive points and silver and dollar bills counted as negative points. The class with the most positive points or least negative points won a pizza party. &nbsp;&nbsp;<ahref="http://etypeservices.com/Cass%20County%20Star%20GazetteID497/"><spanstyl... 13px; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">To view more, please log in or subscribe to the digital edition.</span></a></p>
