Memorial Day observances set

To remember veterans who gave their lives in service to their country, Guthrie- Pierce Post 1239, Veterans of Foreign Wars, will conduct Memorial Day services at 11 a.m. Monday in Art Zeeck Park.
Rev. John Ashcraft will be the keynote speaker. Taps will be performed by Landon Wink and Mike Dour. Military honors will also be conducted at the River Walk with a wreath placed in the Illinois River to remember those lives lost at sea.

Honors will also be conducted in the Veterans’ section at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Lunch, open to the public, will be served at the VFW Post following the services.

Virginia will hold Memorial Day observances at 10 a.m. Monday, May 28, at Walnut Ridge Cemetery.
