Mays resigns as state’s attorney

    Just five weeks after winning reelection, Cass County State’s Attorney Matthew C. Mays has resigned his post, as he and his wife prepare to relocate to the Philippines.
    Confirming the resignation, Cass County Board Chair David Parish said Mays’ assistant, Clark Mills, has been named state’s attorney on a temporary basis. That action was taken at Monday evening’s County Board meeting in Virginia.
