Local Guardsmen return from Kuwait, Middle East duty

Five Cass County soldiers were among approximately 135 Illinois Army National Guardsmen and women, who were greeted by hundreds of friends and relatives as they returned home Wednesday, July 18 from a 9-month deployment to Kuwait and other Middle Eastern locations.

Virginia’s Chris Beherends, Matt Drane, Todd Long, Ashland’s Wes Griffin, and Chandlerville’s Ryan Landon, along with Pleasant Plains’ Brandon Gibbs and Andrew Ingles, were all members of the Springfield-based 3637th Support Maintenance Company who were deployed in support of Operations Spartan Shield and Inherent Resolve.

The unit was stationed primarily at Camp Buehring, Kuwait, while maintenance support teams conducted mission assignments in Jordan, Syria, Egypt and other areas in Kuwait. &nbsp;&nbsp;<ahref="http://etypeservices.com/Cass%20County%20Star%20GazetteID497/"><spanstyl... 13px; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">To view more, please log in or subscribe to the digital edition.</span></a></p>
