Fatal Crash on US 67 South of Beardstown

    There was two vehicle, one fatality crash on U.S. 67 about three-quarters of a mile south of Beardstown on Thursday, Nov. 12 at 3:28 p.m.
    The driver of a 2000 Nissan Altima was traveling north on U.S. 67 and left the roadway, driving on the loose gravel. The Altima’s driver then over-corrected, re-entered the roadway, and struck the trailer of a semi-truck.
    The driver of the semi was transported to Culbertson Hospital with non-life threatening injuries and the driver of the Altima was pronounced dead at the scene. The two passengers of the Altima, a 22 year old woman and nearly three year old child were both air lifted to St. John’s Hospital in Springfield and listed in critical condition.
    No charges have been filed as the accident is still under investigation and U.S. Highway 67 was closed for approximately four hours following the accident.
