Curbside pick-up coming to Chapin
Residents of Chapin will soon receive free curbside pickup of yard waste. Village trustees adopted an ordinance at their August meeting to soon announce a regular pickup schedule. Yard waste is defined as grass clippings, leaves, and tree branches no longer than 20” in length or 6” in diameter. It does not include tree stumps, sod, dirt, trash, or garbage. Residents may place the waste near the curbside no more than 72 hours before the scheduled pickup day and must be in proper bags. Littleton Storm and Timber Services of Jacksonville will be the approved hauler at an expense of $150 per hour. Village residents will soon receive a schedule of pickups and full details in the mail. Regarding other clean up news, Fall clean up dates will be held Oct. 13-14. Dumpsters will be provided but proof of residency must be presented when dumping.
In the utility/street report, a motion was approved to replace old, unsafe steps from the lagoon, as was a section of fencing approved for removal. New dehumidifiers were installed at the water plant. Oiling Village streets continues throughout the Village as does cleaning of culverts and street drains.
