County Board adopts resolution supporting Beardstown marina

By a unanimous vote Monday night, the Cass County Board adopted a non-binding resolution supporting the Beardstown Harbor Committee’s attempt to regain access to the Illinois River.

Harbor Committee Chairman Kelly Cagle thanked the board for its support.

“This is the first time we’ve had any type of economic and environmental impacts we can point to in order to get the marina open,” Cagle said.

Cagle told the board the committee has applied for grants through the Army Corps of Engineers and she thanked County ESDA Director Roger Lauder and County Engineer Tim Icenogle for their help. Cagle said the committee is currently awaiting a Corps of Engineers decision on a $1million grant application. &nbsp;&nbsp;<ahref=""><spanstyl... 13px; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">To view more, please log in or subscribe to the digital edition.</span></a></p>
