Chapin seeks new vehicle after squad car totaled

The Chapin Police Department has been without a patrol car since an accident with a deer occurred in the evening hours of June 14.

The vehicle was a total loss in the accident and the search is on now for a replacement. The officer involved has recovered from his injuries and returned to work.

In the fire department report from the July meeting: Firefighters assisted mutual aid with a vehicle accident east of Bethel on US 104 on June 28 and then again on July 3 for a vehicle accident on the Concord/Sunnyside road. A training is scheduled at the firehouse on July 26.

Seven calls for service were reported by the rescue squad over the previous 30 days, bringing the year-to-date total to 45.
