Cass County Board selects Kim Hance to fill vacant seat

The Cass County Board approved  Chairman Mike Barnett’s selection of Kim Hance of Beardstown to fill the vacant board seat created by the death of former County Board Chairman Dave Parish on Feb. 8.
Hance, a Democrat, is a lifelong Beardstown resident and currently serves as the executive director for the Beardstown Chamber of Commerce and Main Street.
With its new board member seated, the board approved a new agreement with the City of Beardstown to continue providing ambulance service for Eastern Cass County.
Barnett told the board when all the final numbers are in, it appears the Beardstown Ambulance would realize “a substantial profit.” The new contract will be for a 12-month term rather than the original 14-month agreement.  According to Barnett, the change was made to bring the contract in line with Beardstown’s fiscal calendar.
