Cass County 4-H Shooting Sports Club holds Top Shot Competition

The Cass County 4-H Shooting Sports Club finished its fifth year of outdoor shooting on Sept. 3.  This year also marked the completion of the third annual Top Shot Competition.
At each of the six outdoor meetings, a course of fire is offered for the disciplines of archery, shotgun and rifle to earn points.  An “Impossible Shot” is also offered as a lucky bonus and a knowledge test on archery and firearms parts or history is given at each meeting as well. It is a friendly competition that also teaches and builds on skills learned throughout the season. Wyatt Petersen was the 2016 Top Shot Champion; narrowly defeating Landon Smith while Zach DeSollar finished third overall and Sydney Carey placed fourth out of over 40 kids. Awards were also given out for each discipline. Wyatt Petersen finished first in Rifle and Shotgun while Landon Smith placed first in Archery. All participants present at the final shoot also got to pick an item from the prize table.
