Board hears request for better policy enforcement

Virginia School Board met in regular session with all members present, as parents of a junior high daughter appeared before the board requesting that they better enforce the policies of the school’s Extra-Curricular Handbook.
They cited that more parents would come forth to complain, if not for fear of retaliation on their student for doing so.  They expressed concern that, “Allowing coaches too much discretion runs the risks of introducing bias and leads to inconsistency, poor morale, challenges to the emotional well-being of ALL students involved, and to safety issues in which a student was physically hurt.”  They were thanked for their remarks and it was noted that discussion would be held in Executive Session.
