Bluffs Village Board hears ethanol plant proposal

An ethanol plant, Marquis Energy, is exploring the possibility of expanding its production by adding a facility in Bluffs.

Currently, Marquis has plants in Hennepin, Ill. and Necedah, Wis. The company, formed in 2008, has a production capacity of one million gallons of ethanol daily. If located in Bluffs, an estimated 100 local jobs would be created. It would also create an influx of construction workers throughout the building period. A 2020 opening is predicted if discussions proceed favorably.

The announcement was made at the August meeting of the Bluffs Village Board. &nbsp;&nbsp;<ahref="http://etypeservices.com/Cass%20County%20Star%20GazetteID497/"><spanstyl... 13px; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">To view more, please log in or subscribe to the digital edition.</span></a></p>
