Beardstown Park District Director discusses pool update

Plans are progressing for a new pool in Beardstown with groundbreaking expected either this month or in April.
Although costs for the project have increased from an estimated $2.9 million to $3.17 million after the process was put on hold due to a temporary suspension of state funding, no cuts will be made to the pool design. In fact, the Beardstown Park District Board has approved the addition of an extra lap lane at a cost of $56,000, increasing the number of lanes from three to four.
The increase of $270,000 in the project cost is “still doable for us,” according to Beardstown Park District Director Jason Brockschmidt.
